My choreography to Bang Bang!

So many of you have been requesting this song on YouTube and through my request form and y'all put me to WORK - I really had to think about what I wanted to create with this one. The original video/choreography is done so well (by one of my faves Hrithik) and it's a tribute to the greatest dancer in history, Michael Jackson. That's a lot to live up to! I of course changed it up with some signature #dancewithSL style Bolly-Hop, and created more laid back, urban choreography. The video also features one of my favourite dancers Arnold Wallang partnering with me (he's incredible, and forever one of my dance inspirations). Check it out and don't forget to subscribe to my channel! Enjoy :)

UPDATE: Watch the tutorial below as well!

My most fun Master Class ever!

I've been really excited to share this video with all of you! It's from my last master class in Toronto and I had the most amazing time teaching this! Everyone had such amazing energy and came so hungry to learn and just DANCE. Thank you to all these amazingly talented dancers for coming out and thank you to one of my subscribers for requesting this song - I had so much fun choreographing this. Enjoy and give it a share! UPDATE: the tutorial is now also up on YouTube (below)!

'That Brown Girl' in those Real Sports Raptors Ads

I’m so excited to share that I’m part of the 2015 Real Sports Holiday campaign! First off – I love the Toronto Raptors, and have actually had the opportunity to perform at FIVE Raptors half-time shows for their annual Diwali and Vaisakhi nights. Every time I go perform it’s such a rush – I even get nervous for tech rehearsal because it’s the most surreal feeling being on that court.

This year, Real Sports (authentic store of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) wanted to use ‘social influencers’ for their holiday campaign and I’m so honoured that they approached me to be a part of it. I got to spend the day wearing some DOPE clothing from their new line, and hanging out with the awesome Real Sports team and my fellow ‘models’ – Kat Stefankiewicz (@MatterofKat) who is a Raptors host, Akil Augustine (@akilaugustine) who is the host, creator, and producer of NBATV, and Mark Vallena (@DarkVallena) of the Raptors Rundown.

If you’re in Toronto over the next four weeks, look out for these ads, and check out the Lookbook and Real Sports Apparel online shop (my personal favourite was the ugly Christmas sweater collection).

Thank you so much to the Real Sports team for having me in this, it's a huge privilege to be repping a team and city I love so much. I'll be rocking some of this gear in my upcoming videos so stay tuned!

My Prem Ratan Dhan Payo choreography!

I finally got around to doing this choreography video to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo! I absolutely LOVE this song - it's so beautiful and really inspired me to create some original choreography to it. Of course, we had to keep some signature steps from the video because Sonar Kapoor is just exquisite in this and executes all the choreography so effortlessly. I was in Istanbul when the song came out and listened to it non-stop just choreographing in my head and on the airplane - I really felt inspired after so long with the song's 90's Bollywood melodic feel. Thank you to my amazing team: my awesome videographer and editor Safira Halani and gorgeous dancers (Sam, Karina, Natasha, and Vanessa) for helping me create this. Make sure to head over to my channel and like, comment, subscribe, and enjoy! I post videos every Wednesday! *Update: the tutorial video is now posted as well in case you want to learn this dance!

Some long overdue Tutorial videos!

It's been almost a month of tutorial videos on my channel, but don't worry - the dance videos will be back next week! Here are some tutorials you guys have been requesting for awhile now. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to my YouTube channel! xo.

I made my Netflix debut on Hemlock Grove!

A few months ago I auditioned and was cast in this small scene in Netflix original series Hemlock Grove (as 'Bollywood Dancer #1'...lifelong dream fulfilled). Everyone on set was SO amazing and I got my very own trailer which was pretty cool. Careful if you watch this show - MAJOR SPOILERS in this clip. Also if you haven't seen Hemlock Grove yet - beware: Netflix & Chills. Okay go watch my partner in crime, Gowtham Ratnaraj, and I in our Netflix debuts!

My Master Class Series is back!

Toronto dancers! I'll be hosting a Bollywood Master Class on November 15, 2015! This time, the style is going to be completely different from any of my other classes and I'm pumped to show you guys! Register here

It's here! If Bollywood were in Toronto...

What would happen if Bollywood were in Toronto? Obviously a LOT of dancing at the CN Tower, 3D Toronto sign, Ripley's Aquarium, and Dundas Square...in some Toronto/Raps/Jays gear (duh). We may or may not have gone to eat at a hot dog stand at some point while shooting this....
Thank you to the amazing team I had that made this video happen - Diving Film Studio for the amazing videography and direction, Safira Halani for the edit/graphics/brainstorming sessions/BTS footage/hours and hours of work (thank you so much for making this project what it is!), my BOYS Gowtham, Arnold, Rahim, Rohit, Rahul, and Mobeen for not only being awesome dancers, but making the shoot so fun, and Tobin for all your help on set!

Also a big thank you to Varun & the Bollyshake team for all their support!

Choreographing for Salim Sulaiman Live in Toronto!

I got to meet the awesome DiverseCity dance team when I judged at the Canadian Ismaili Games in Calgary. They got the amazing opportunity to perform at halftime for the Salim Sulaiman show live in Toronto, and asked me to choreograph their set! They're a team of such hardworking, young budding talents and KILLED my choreo. Congrats again guys and thanks for having me!

Schulich Funk!

Schulich Funk is here and has got me feeling all nostalgic! I got to work on and play lead in this awesome video for the Schulich School of Business (where I just completed my MBA degree). There are so many amazing things about the Schulich MBA - the best being the incredibly gifted and talented people I got to spend every day with. Thank you to Kareem Sami (the brains behind Schulich Funk) for asking me to play lead in this and all the faculty, staff, students, and MBA games team who starred in it! Enjoy!

My most requested choreography video!

The requests have been pouring in on my YouTube channel for this song, so I got together with one of my favourite Bollywood dancers, Pratik Marathe, to create this!

Thank you to Soul Feet Dance Productions for letting me use the studio after my classes there to shoot this :)

Dance and tutorial videos below!

The Bollywood Master Class Series travelled to Calgary!

Over the weekend I travelled all the way to Calgary, Alberta to teach two SOLD OUT Bollywood master classes (pictured is class 1/2). It was so refreshing to see so many dancers that were so eager and enthusiastic to learn. A huge 'thank you' to Soul Feet Dance Productions for having me, and for being so easy and amazing to work with! Can't wait for more classes in Calgary soon! You can check out SFDP and all the cool stuff they do here.
It was LOVELY dancing with all of you ;) Stay tuned for the video!

My latest master class video - Imaginary by Imran Khan

I think this was the hardest choreography I've taught yet - but that's what a master class is for! Shout outs to all these amazing people who came out, gave themselves a challenge, and got out of their comfort zone. You all inspire me and motivate me to keep going.

Enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe to dancewithSL!
